The Nature Inspired Art Series continues with paintings and photography form Orchid Island Art Club. Artists in the show are Diana Bickford, Muci Clemens, Cornelia Gundlach, Jackie Harding-Chernoff, Lou Lower, Nancy Ofstie, Ruth Martin, Reggie McCormack, Judy Stach, Ann Starkey, and Mary Stewart. There are over sixty pieces of artwork in the exhibit and all the art is for sale with a portion of the proceeds donated by the artists to the ELC.
The VBMA will present this extraordinary exhibition from the Dahesh Museum in New York. The show will explore artistic visions of the cultures and peoples from the time Napoleon entered Egypt, taking with him dozens of draftsmen and engineers to create renderings of this country’s rich cultural phenomena.The exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, and illustrated books by a diverse group of artists, many of whom were academically trained, having learned to draw and paint from life and sketch directly from nature.
This exhibition was organized by the Dahesh Museum of Art, New York City.The last Saturday of each month is FREE admission.Museum Hours: Mon - Sat: 10 am - 4:30 pm / Sundays: 1 - 4 pm.

With a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, “The Bridges of Madison County” was nominated for five 2014 Tony Awards, winning two -- for original score and orchestration.
Based on Robert James Waller's 1992 novel of the same name, the musical is set in Iowa in 1965. Francesca Johnson is an Italian war bride who has had 18 years of disillusioned farm life. While her husband and children are away at the state fair, she begins an affair with a photojournalist, Robert Kincaid, who has come to the area to photograph the famous covered bridges of Madison County.
"The Bridges of Madison County" opens on Friday, March 8th and runs for three weekends through March 24th. Performances are at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2pm on Sundays. Tickets are $40. Discounts are available for students with ID and groupls of 10 or more.
