Due to a 2010 state law, voters in St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee and Palm Beach counties will decide the fate of each county's Children's Services Council as they cast their ballot this November.  The councils provide funding to many local programs for children and families.

Items like automotive fluids, insecticides and oil-based paint are considered household hazardous waste.  The city of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County Solid Waste will host a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, this Saturday, October 4th from 8 a.m. to noon at the city's Public Works Facility at 450 S.W. Thornhill Drive in Port St. Lucie.

Summer is officially over and it's time to start thinking about ways to avoid getting the flu.  Director of Health and Wellness at Indian River State College, Dr. Patti Corey-Souza, tells us about some flu prevention tips.

It's almost time for kids to go back to school and that means it's time to make sure your kids are up-to-date on their immunizations. 

The Florida Department of Health in Martin County is having a free immunization clinic for students entering the seventh grade this Saturday, August 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Stuart.

  Summer slide means summer learning loss.  Martin County non-profit agencies are joining forces to help children in kindergarten through third grade avoid falling behind over the summer with the Summer Slide Prevention Program.
