Avoiding sunburn

This is Paul Janench with a Treasure Coast Essay about sunburn.  This is the time of year when we are the most vulnerable.  And I don’t mean just fair-skinned, freckly people, like yours truly, but all of us – even those with dark skin.  Sunburn is not only painful, it can cause wrinkles and skin cancer.  I love to be on the beach or on the water.  But in the summer I stay in the shade from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.  My dermatologist told me that even then I should apply lots of sunscreen.  He recommends a spray with an SPF of at least 70.  Apply it twice, letting it dry between layers.  Re-apply it every 2-to-4 hours.  And wear a hat.  It’s not surprising that visitors from Up North get sunburned down here.  But residents of the  reasure Coast should know better.  I’m Paul Janensch.
