This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about how non-scientists can be involved in scientific research to protect our Indian River Lagoon. It starts with a public forum. The theme is Citizen Science -- what non-scientists can do for the lagoon, which is so important to the Treasure Coast. The day before the forum, there will be a symposium on the lagoon for scientists, decision makers and students. The evening following, there will be a “Love Your Lagoon” dinner. The Citizen Science forum will be from 9 to noon this Friday, February 6, at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute on US 1, north of Fort Pierce. It is free, but you must register in advance by 5 p.m. today. To do so, go to indianriverlagoon.org and click on Symposium. This is Paul Janensch.
