Close call

This is a Treasure Coast Essay by Paul Janensch about Hurricane Matthew.  Whew!  That was a close call.  My wife Gail and I were away.  But, of course, we still were worried.  Would the Treasure Coast be clobbered?  Fortunately, it was not.  Branches were blown down at our condo in Vero Beach, and the power was knocked out, as it was up and down the coast, but that was all.  Following updates on wqcs.org, we learned that Matthew – the first hurricane to hit Florida in 11 years –  wobbled to the east before heading north, where communities were devastated.  Some think weather forecasters and government officials overdid their warnings for our area.  Better safe than sorry, say I.  And let’s not be complacent.  Do you have hurricane shutters?  Is your roof in good shape?  We may not be so lucky the next time.  I’m Paul Janensch.
