Fri Nov 18, 2016 PLANETARIUM SHOW: SATURN, JEWEL OF THE HEAVENS

The planet Saturn is about to leave our evening skies; it’s been well-placed for viewing all through the summer and early fall. Now, because of the earth’s revolution, the sun is positioning itself between us and the ringed planet, and you can’t see Saturn when it’s on the far side of the sun. You may catch a glimpse of it very low in the southwest after sunset; or you can also catch it at Indian River State College’s Hallstrom Planetarium tonight and tomorrow afternoon, when we present, “Saturn, Jewel of the Heavens.” This show has some spectacular images of the ringed planet and its moons, thanks to a spacecraft named Cassini which has been orbiting Saturn for the past several years. Shows are tonight at 6 and 7:30 pm, and tomorrow, Saturday, at 1 and 2:30 pm. Tickets are available at the IRSC Box Office; their number is 462-4750, or call toll-free, 1 800 220-9915.
