This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the Happiest Seaside Town in America. For 2016, it’s Stuart – as determined by the editors of Coastal Living magazine, who reviewed nominations sent by Internet and researched communities known for good “coastal vibes.” They called Stuart an Old Florida-style treasure that shares its waters with sea turtles, dolphins and, of course, sailfish. The streets are tidy and landscaped. The views are not interrupted by high-rises. Mayor Jeffrey Krauskopf was quoted as saying, “We’re quant.” He added that Stuart has a relaxed, flip-flop approach to life. I noticed that Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was ranked Number 2. As a young man, I dislocated my shoulder body-surfing there. To me, Rehoboth Beach is NOT a happy seaside town. But Stuart definitely IS. I’m Paul Janensch.
