Jake Owen returns to Vero Beach

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about county music star Jake Owen.  The graduate of Vero Beach High School returns to his home town to perform Friday and Saturday at Riverside Theater.  The shows will benefit the Jake Owen Foundation to help children with diseases and to support youth organizations in Indian River County.  One is the Boys and Girls Club.  As boys, themselves, Joshua “Jake” Owen, now 34, and his twin brother Jarrod played sports.  Jake dreamed of being a professional golfer.  While recovering from a wakeboarding accident, he took up the guitar.  I assume he will sing his new hit, “Real Life.”  “Well, I grew up in a real town, where the prom queen had a plastic crown, and we really did just drive aroun’, ‘cause there wasn’t stuff to do.”  Does he mean Vero Beach?  I’m Paul Janensch.
