National champions again

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the remarkable Indian River State College swimming and diving teams.  “It’s still the same old story.  A fight for love and glory.”  It IS the same old story!  The IRSC men’s and women’s teams swept the National Junior College Athletic Association’s championships.  Again.  This time in Buffalo, New York.  The men won all 20 of their events.  The women won 18.  Team members were named male and female swimmers of the year and male and female divers of the year.  Sion Brinn was named men’s coach of the year.  David Suba was named diving coach of the year.  The women’s team has won 34 consecutive national titles.  The men’s team has captured 41 – the longest championship winning streak in any U.S. college sport.  “The world will always welcome winners.  As time goes by.”  I’m Paul Janensch.
