Navy UDT-SEAL Museum renovated

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the renovation of the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce.  A $2.2 million re-do has been completed.   What’s new?  A theater and two display galleries.  A Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter.  You can sit at the controls.  An interactive display to show you what it’s like to conduct a night mission.  A 14-foot steel beam recovered from the rubble of the World Trade Center.  The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays.  It is located on Highway A-1-A on North Hutchinson Island.  On nearby beaches, Underwater Demolition Teams or “frogmen,” the forerunners of the SEALS, were trained during World War II to clear the way for landings in Normandy and on Pacific islands.  It is the only museum dedicated to the Navy SEALS.  I’m Paul Janensch.
