New name for Mets stadium

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the new name on the stadium at the Mets’ spring training camp in Port St. Lucie.  It’s now called First Data Field, named for the high-tech financial services company, which is based in Atlanta and has an operation near Fort Lauderdale.  The name caught my eye because my son Will once worked for First Data in New York.  The name change was made with little fanfare.  When you went online to buy tickets, the website still called the stadium Tradition Field, named for the master-planned mixed-use community in Port St. Lucie.  Initially, the stadium was named for Thomas J. White, who developed St. Lucie West and helped bring the Mets training camp to that community.  For a while, the stadium was named for Digital Domain, an animation studio that went bankrupt.   I’m Paul Janensch.
