Pickleball!

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about Pickleball.  What’s that?  It’s like tennis and badminton, but played with a paddle like ping pong and with a projectile like a Wiffle ball.  It is popular in Palm Beach County and is catching on along the Treasure Coast.  Pickleball shares tennis courts in Indian River County at Schuman Drive Park, Riverside Park and Pocahontas Park.  Sebastian is considering options and will decide when and where to build Pickleball courts and how much to spend on them.  Seniors love Pickleball because it calls for tennis skills but is slower and less exhausting.  Pickleball started on Bainbridge Island in Washington State.  The name comes from Pickle Boats, the crew shells rowed by castoffs from other teams.  So why are these shells called Pickle Boats?  Beats me.  I’m Paul Janensch.
