World’s best beach

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay taking issue with the 2015 list of the top 10 U.S. beaches from Dr. Beach.  His real name is Stephen Leatherman, a coastal expert and professor at Florida International University.  Number one this year is Waimanalo Bay in Hawaii.  Never heard of it.  Florida had the most beaches listed, with four.  They are a county park beach in Bonita Springs and state park beaches at St. George Island, Key Biscayne and Naples.  What about our beach?  If Dr. Beach asked me, I would say the long stretch of sand between Brevard County and Palm Beach County is the best beach in the world.  Well, the best in Florida, anyway.  Pick any spot on the Treasure Coast – with or without life guards and showers – and I’ll match it against Waimanalo Bay.  I’m Paul Janensch.
