Area Music Students Selected for Performances On WQCS’s Young Musicians Spotlight

  Enjoy the talents of area student musicians as public radio station WQCS / 88.9 FM presents its annual one-hour special, Young Musicians Spotlight.  From pianists, cellists and clarinetists to oboists, violinists and flutists, the program features twenty one student musicians from Martin and St. Lucie counties.

With more than 20 years presenting Young Musicians Spotlight.  WQCS announcer Ted Burrows serves as host of the program. 

Students represent Lincoln Park Academy, Manatee Academy, Palm Pointe Educational Research School and St. Anastasia Catholic School in St. Lucie County.  From Martin County, students attend St. Joseph Catholic School, Jensen Beach High School, and Hidden Oaks Middle School.  A group of home-schooled students are performing, as well.

Young Musicians Spotlight kicks off with Scott Joplin’s popular jazz piece, Maple Leaf Rag, to be performed by pianist Julia Vitale from St. Joseph Catholic School.   Other musicians on the program performance schedule include:  cellists Megan Savage and Brandon Gunter; string bass player Shane Savage; violinsts Ashley Finke, Emily Finke, Brooke Gunter, Ava Gunter; flutist Juliette Pena and Rebecca Noelke; clarinetist Hanna Barbare; oboist Emma Niemczyk; tuba player DillardsPolikarpov; and violist Adam Savage.  Pianists performing are Viktor Santiago, Kevin Duan, Kevin Saha, Nicholas Taggart, SteffanoSegovia-Palacios, Joie Athos, and Sarah Paprotna.
