Smithsonian to host local celebration of World Oceans Day

The Smithsonian and the St. Lucie County Aquarium will take part in World Oceans Day on Saturday, June 8 to celebrate our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea.

A Matter of Balance

Drew Mello talks with Liliana Herrera from Area Agency on Aging.

The agency will be offering a two day seminar to train leaders for the A Matter of Balance program, which helps to manage falls and increase activity level. The seminar will take place on Thursday and Friday May 9 & 10th at WellMed on Lake Whitney Place in Port St. Lucie.

Affordable healthcare for Indian River County

Treasure Coast Community Health focuses on meeting the medical, dental and mental health needs of non-insured and under-insured residents of Indian River County.

They’ll be hosting the first Great Duck Derby, to benefit their Women’s Healthcare Safety Net Fund, on Sunday, May 19 at Captain Hiram’s resort in Sebastian.

Twyla Tharp to speak on “The Creative Habit” at IRSC’s McAlpin Fine Arts Center

Twyla Tharp

Drew Mello talks with renowned dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp.

Over her storied career Miss Tharp has choreographed more than one hundred thirty-five dances, five Hollywood movies and directed and choreographed four Broadway shows. In 1965 she founded her dance company, Twyla Tharp Dance.

Twyla will be speaking about “The Creative Habit” on Friday, April 12, at 4 p.m. at IRSC’s McAlpin Fine Arts Center in Fort Pierce as part of the Fielden Institute’s Center Stage Series.
