Vero Beach – Heather Stapleton suffered repeated bouts of dysentary and malaria while serving in the West African nation of Benin. She had her bags packed, but ultimately decided to stick it out, and stayed an extra year. Now she's education coordinator at the Environmental Learning Center in Indian River County.

Children's summer sailing classes

Honor Fight

Washington DC – This weekend, Martin County firefighters will hold a boot drive at some Martin County intersections to collect money to transport WW II veterans to the WW II Memorial in Washington DC. Palliative Care

Ft. Myers – When it comes to treating terminal illness, palliative care is often seen as the end of the fight. It focuses on quality of life rather than cure and is usually integrated in a patient's final days or weeks in the form of hospice. A recent study shows that palliative care can not only help people live better, but also longer. As Farah Dosani reports, those in the field call for changing the way we view and use this so-called "end-of-life" care.
