WQCS schedules April student auditions for Young Musicians Spotlight

Music students in the four-county area, as well as northern Palm Beach and south Brevard counties are invited to audition for public radio station WQCS / 88.9 FM's popular Young Musicians Spotlight, a one-hour radio special featuring the talent of young musicians. St. Lucie County – St. Lucie County health department celebrates it's 60th anniversary.

Ft. Pierce, FL – Drew Mello talks with Jane Rowley of the One Hundred Club of St. Lucie County.

The club provides assistance to emergency service officers injured or killed in the line of duty.

Their Officer of the Year banquet, which is a major fundraiser for the One Hundred Club, will be on Tuesday, May 13th at Gator Trace Country Club in Ft. Pierce.

This Week's Treasure Coast Essay

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the number of loggerhead sea-turtle nests counted in 2016.  It set a record!  Both state-wide and in our area.  Niki Desjardin with Ecological Associates says 122,000 loggerhead nests were counted statewide, and 27,000 were counted on the Treasure Coast.  The number of nests laid by green turtles and leatherbacks was down a bit in 2016 but is expected to be higher in 2017, while the number of loggerhead nests is expected to dip.  The nesting season began March 1 and continues until November 1.  Let’s keep those numbers high.  Remember
