Burt Reynolds auctions his stuff

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about an auction of memorabilia collected over the years by movie and TV star Burt Reynolds of Hobe Sound.  The auction was conducted earlier this month in Las Vegas.  The 650 items from Reynolds’ life and career included the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am used to promote “Smokey and the Bandit,” the 18-karat gold antique pocket watch given to him by Sally Field when they were dating, clothing worn in his movies, awards for his acting in Hollywood and for his football playing at Palm Beach High School, and boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali.  Reynolds, 78, is having financial problems but insisted he just had too much stuff.  I would have bid on some of the items – maybe to give to myself as Christmas presents – but I have too much stuff, myself.  I’m Paul Janensch.
