Hurricane season: Be prepared!

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season.  It began June 1st and ends November 30th.  The experts say this will be one of the quietest hurricane seasons in decades.  A normal season has six hurricanes.  Forecasters predict about half that many this year.  But do not get complacent.  In 1992, Hurricane Andrew clobbered Florida during an otherwise slow hurricane season.  Are your hurricane shutters and roof in good shape?  Have you assembled an emergency kit?  Water and canned goods, a manual can opener, a flashlight and extra batteries, your insurance policy, plenty of cash, and a battery-operated or hand-cranked radio.  To learn more, go to wqcs.org, pull down the News menu and click on Hurricane Information  I’m Paul Janensch.
