Our own national champs

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the amazing men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at Indian River State College.  It will be news when they do NOT win the National Junior College Athletic Association championships.  They did it again on March 5th at their home aquatic complex in Fort Pierce.  The men claimed their 42nd consecutive championship – the longest winning streak in college sports.  The women claimed their 34th consecutive championship.  New records were set.  South Africans Craig Emslie and Tayla Lovermore – who were named Male and Female Swimmers of the Year – will compete next month in their country’s Olympic trials.  Teammates were named Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Year.  Coach Sion Brinn was named Coach of the Year.  Wow.  I’m Paul Janensch.
