Sharks to cheer for

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about Sharks to cheer for.  No, not the sleek predators of the deep. But the rowers at Sebastian River High School who propel sleek shells over the surface.  Three of the school’s rowing teams competed in the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships on May 22nd and 23rd in Camden, New Jersey.  The Sharks qualified for the nationals at the Florida State Championships.  Each shell had four rowers and a coxswain.  The women’s junior varsity 4 made it to the semifinals but lost at that level and ended with a respectable ninth-place among 24 entries.  The men’s varsity 4 and the women’s varsity 4 rowed well but did not make it to the semifinals.  Wait till next year!  Maybe a team of Sharks or rowers from another Treasure Coast program will finish on top at the nationals.  Stroke, stroke, stroke!   I’m Paul Janensch
