Waldo Sexton’s ghost

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the ghost that haunts the Driftwood Resort in Vero Beach.  The spooky visitor is Waldo Sexton, who died at 82 in 1967.  He created what was called the Driftwood Inn and other Vero Beach landmarks, including the McKee Botanical Garden, the Ocean Grill and the Patio restaurant.  Halloween is Saturday.  So let me tell you about Waldo Sexton’s ghost.  Guests have heard noises coming from rooms that once were part of the original Sexton house, called Breezeway.  A security guard felt a tap on his shoulder while on his rounds.  When he turned around, no one was there.  Maybe Waldo just wants to be near the bells he collected.  If you stay at the Driftwood and hear a bell late at night – DONG! -- I bet I know who rang it.  I’m Paul Janensch.
