Where to snorkel

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the best places to snorkel.  TCPalm.com – the digital edition of Treasure Coast Newspapers – asked readers to name their favorite spots for donning mask, tube and flippers and enjoying the view beneath the surface.  When algae is absent, of course.  As a snorkeler myself, I was not surprised that Bathtub Reef in Stuart was ranked Number One.  A reef forms a big bathtub at the shore line.  Inside the reef, the calm water allows beginners to see small marine life.  Outside the reef, experienced snorkelers can dive in search of rays and larger fish.  Sebastian Inlet State Park also ranked high.  Water in the tidal bay on the north side of the inlet ranges in depth from shallow to 30 feet.  Sometimes you can swim with manatees.  Cool!  I’m Paul Janensch.
