This woman coaches men

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the graduate of Sebastian River High School who is believed to be the first woman to hold an NFL coaching position.  She is Jen Welter, 37, hired by the Arizona Cardinals as an assistant coaching intern during training camp and the pre-season.  The 5-foot-2, 130-pound holder of a PhD in psychology is working with inside linebackers, who are a lot taller and a lot heavier.  She played on women’s football teams and was a player and coach with the Texas Revolution of the previously all-male Indoor Football League.  Jen’s dad, Peter, was a chiropractor for 25 years.  Her mom, Nancy, is a tour director.  Jen was a top student at Vero Beach High School and then at Sebastian River, Class of ‘96.  She loved to watch Friday night football.  I’m Paul Janensch.
