Yay, St. Lucie Mets!

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about all those New York Mets who played down here as St. Lucie Mets.  Sixteen in all.  Two-thirds of New York’s National League championship roster.  Maybe you saw some of them play for the minor league Mets at the stadium in St. Lucie West.  Going into the World Series, they included the four starting pitchers: DeGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard and Matz.  Plus closer Familia.  Also the four starting infielders: First baseman Duda, second baseman Murphy, MVP in the championship series, shortstop Flores, and third baseman Wright, the captain.  All the infielders have spent their entire careers in the Mets organization.  Since 2010, the team has focused on developing talent rather than bringing in free agents.  Yay, St. Lucie Mets!  I’m Paul Janensch.
